At our core is a small team of journalists with over 20 years experience in journalism, production, marketing and social media working in some of the most challenging environments in the world for clients like NATO, the United Nations, Vice and Vocativ. We offer staff with security clearance, hostile environment training and a light touch when it comes to sensitive subjects.

Our Team
Ruth Owen
Ruth Owen began her media career working for the BBC, MTV and Stuff.tv, as a technology and current affairs journalist when the social media revolution was just beginning. She left for Afghanistan just before the US-led “surge” in 2009 and has since worked in every country ending in ‘Stan for employers like NATO, The Washington Post and Al Jazeera in multimedia digital storytelling. Ruth has worked alongside military public affairs since 2009 and is security cleared to NS level.
Jake Simkin
Jake Simkin started out as a music video and commercial cinematographer who left home one day to help out Banda Aceh after a tsunami. He never stopped. Driving a motorbike through Asia and into the Middle East covering humanitarian and conflict, he has so far worked in 9 war zones, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Sudan, Sudan, DRC, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Syria covering the best and worst of men for employers like Vocativ, Associated Press, CARE and New York Times.
